Just As I Am (my response to the Reverie’s Challenge)

Been running for thirty seven years

From everything mostly myself

So many falling, ripping tears

When will I be just as I am, enough

Now is the time for my authenticity

Matters not how long it has taken

The journey itself has fulfilled my destiny

No longer pleasing leaving myself forsaken

Gratitude is now my most vital reality

Where ever I go my skin is my earthly residence

The vessel that He has given to my sprituality

The proof is plain serenity is the evidence

More work left to do for sure

Will be refining till this life is through

Gray hair and wrinkles are trophies pure

Want to spend my remaining years in His sweet flow

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.

  1. Thirty-seven? Listen up, young whippersnapper! 😉
Dahling, I ran until I was in my mid forties. Then, thanks to some wonderful wisdom from the size acceptance community, I looked at my fat, graying self and said “you know what? I like me.”
That doesn’t mean that every day is good. I live with mental illness and some days its really hard to like myself.
But I will never again be a slave to standards created by dudebros and the multi-billion dollar diet industry. And that is a very positive thing.
    Stay you!

I’m glad you had a good Thanksgiving! I have not been on WP and reading as much but I am catching up! This is a good time to catch up and read all my favorites. I have your blog on my reading list. 2. This is lovely. I especially liked, and can relate to:
“Where ever I go my skin is my earthly residence
