Believe~OctPoWriMo Day 16

A New Day
A New Day

Every dawn I see brings hope anew

Every dawn I see brings hope anew

The rise of the brightly golden orb

The rise of the brightly golden orb

The rise of every hope anew I see

The golden orb brings the dawn

~

Gently rising from the sea

Gently rising from the sea

Establishes a peace within

Establishes a peace within

The sea from within rising

A peace establishes gently

~

Waves tenderly kiss the shore

Waves tenderly kiss the shore

Awakening my soul this day

Awakening my soul this day

The tenderly awakening shore

Waves kiss my soul this day

~

The waves dawn anew this day

Every shore brightly brings hope

Establishing a golden rising of the orb

Gently the peace within the sea

Awakening the kiss tenderly I see

The Prompt:

“I’m all about structure this week, weirdddd. Anyways, paradelles are some of my favorites, it’s a really nice challenge! They were invented to be a parody (hence the name) to villanelles by US Poet Laureate Billy Collins. There, that’s your history lesson for the day!

For all the structure lovers in the house, you’re going to LOVE this!
You’ve got four stanzas of six lines each.”~Beverly Tan

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.

  1. what a kewl poem!! the word patterns are like gentle waves upon the shore. the term paradelle is very close to a technical term used in drumming rudiments, called the paradiddle.
