Cascading~OctPoWriMo Day 21

Cascading Lake
Cascading

I am like a river flowing

Often past my border

Trying to stay within my bank

Sometimes flooding the shore

I.

Life brings many problems at times

I feel I can’t go on

Seeking outlet for the excess

Will I find my own dawn

~

I am like a river flowing

Often past my border

Trying to stay within my bank

Sometimes flooding the shore

II.

Every day stress is alive

At times I do cope well

Flowing with the curves and edges

Life rings as clear as bells

~

I am like a river flowing

Often past my border

Trying to stay within my bank

Sometimes flooding the shore

The Prompt:

“I really enjoy working with Shadow Poetry’s different types of poetry and today we are moving on to the Ballad. I must admit that when I first read the description I was a little intimidated; it seemed complicated. But once I read their example I realized that I had already written a similar type without realizing it when I wrote The Ways Not Clear a couple of years ago. I hope you decide to try this one.

In honor of my week of feeling overwhelmed, I challenge you to write into your feelings of overwhelm; when you feel it, how you feel it, what happens when you feel it, and what you do about it.”~Morgan Dragonwillow

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.

      1. Well, we are not perfectionists..What we write it comes from the heart , right? I too managed to pen whatever came across my mind and meanwhile forgot to copy paste the REFRAIN stanza 😀 editing in process ;
