She’s gonna fly

Up above her distress

Soar in the atmosphere

Of detachment

Living for today

As that is all that’s real

I will follow her

On her journey

Cast aside my pain

Find my way again

Move my wings

To the rhythm

Her music shall

Inspire me

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.

  1. Mmm…the idea of, “soaring in the atmosphere of detachment” is intriguing…yes, this is actually a physical place that you write of…I like the way you wove the words of the music into your poetry and brought it to a meaning…a song of transcending pain. Beautiful. 🙂

  2. Besides the phrase “atmosphere of detachment,” which others have already commented on, I especially was drawn to “move my wings.” Reminds me to risk, to put into play gifts and talents, to overcome insecurity, inferiority, and inertia. Thank you! So beautifully written and so very thought- (and action-) provoking! God bless you!
