Disney Land

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Out of Your Reach.”

“Was there a toy or thing you always wanted as a child, during the holidays or on your birthday, but never received? Tell us about it.

Thanks the suggestion, Jen Rosenberry!”

Disney Land
Disney Land

Take me to Mickey

I really want to go

You can do it daddy

Please don’t say no

Riding the Ferris wheel

Bringing me lots of joy

Hear my joyful squeals

Better than for a new toy

~

Take me to Disney Land daddy

Pluto is calling my name

Promise I won’t be a baddie

I’ll just play every single game

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.

  1. It’s only later that I realized I didn’t get
Or the fact that careful didn’t go as planned
What matters most is that forever love
Those careful arms that were never placed
What I have now is the most important
    The love of self
With arms placed around the two that I love
    As always Sheldon

  2. As a child, I would have loved to go to Disneyland. Mine was a family of modest means, though, so it never happened. At this point it sounds more nightmare than dream, as anonymous says. High ticket prices, long lines, screaming kids, rude adults…just no, thanks!
