Winter’s Face

This is my contribution to OctPoWriMo Day 28. The challenge was to record our favorite poem but my old laptop does not allow me to do that so I am posting my favorite short story(I’ve only written 3) and hope that is sufficient to the task. ❤

A Hush. A Hush.

   The deafening silence startled her out of a profound sleep. At first, she didn’t realize what had caused her to return from the land of dreams where she was enjoying a sweet and tender tune sung by her favorite artist, Ed Sheeran. She dreamed that she was dancing with Mark just like she used to as Ed’s song, “Thinking Out Loud” played for them. O the feeling of his arms around her leading her within the depth of their love. Taking her slowly around the floor, but letting her influence their moves as well. Mark, Mark! The sadness made her snap back and remember the lateness of the hour and her curiosity about exactly what had awakened her. It was the screaming silence.

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.
