For My Husband~Free Verse

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “RSVP.”

Plan the ultimate celebration for the person you’re closest to, and tell us about it. Where is it? Who’s there? What’s served? What happens?

Also in response to the open link night at d’verse poets: http://dversepoets.com/2015/11/12/openlinknight-160/#like-11023

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.

  1. How sweet! and this is what a celebration should be about – what the celebrant enjoys and makes them happy. Wonderful. My birthday is soon. My in-laws think it should be celebrated (as all theirs are) in some restaurant they like but not particularly what I like. So I have laid down the law. I want to celebrate my birthday by going to the new James Bond movie – come with me or stay home. My husband is most amused by their befuddlement (really, IHop?, Friendly’s, Applebee’s?). This will be fun. Your husband is a lucky man and I think he knows it.

  2. love that you’ve created a “strange poetry style” and referred to it as such within your poem. You had a lot of fun with this…and I hope your husband has just as much fun reading it! 🙂

  3. yup, y’all, that’s my girl!! wouldn’t trade her in for nuthin’ or nobody!! best of all, this poetry style is — eclectic — one of her most favorite words, and now one of my favorite, except for the word “carol”. 😉

  4. Star wars is not my wife’s pleasure..
    Internet ways of connecting
    or problem solving
    always
    so unlike
    her.. Best of
    life is in change
    so opposites do
    attract
    the best
    in me too..
    she in her room
    and me in mine..
    i see my father
    and his
    third wife
    do this and
    now i am here..
    no longer now on
    couch intWinInG
    as Love.. but best
    friends make it
    in decades
    long
    trial.. oh different.. i Love..:)

  5. I actually refuse to attend parties that don’t give me the opportunity to dance like a martian while blowing bubbles and solving math problems 😉
I love, love, love this. I felt the need to read it three times. Thanks for sharing!
