Cat Kitchen~Magpie Tales
Cat Kitchen

She gazed at the clutter and mess

Her feelings she has to repress

The humans drink all day and night

The house always cold and uptight

The fighting caused a huge ruckus

She gazed at the clutter and mess

Not convinced that things were alright

Simply sat and mourned the blight

Alcohol caused them to regress

Dropped from their own human noblesse

She gazed at the clutter and the mess

Her silken fur no longer white

Her dreams of other homes useless

Them all she must quickly repress

Spent her narrow days in distress

She gazed at the clutter and the mess

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.

  1. when I think of kitties, I think of Garfield, the “101 uses for a dead cat” book of years ago , other “funny” stuff, etc. like kitty saying to him/herself, ” you’ve got to be kidding! not another g.d. mess!” but this kitty somehow looks revolted, reluctant to return home, like many kids of alcoholic parents, wondering what kind of “tuna surprise” awaits at home.
