“For this challenge, please write a poem with the theme of DREAD. Let your mouth go dry, your heart skip a beat. I doubt that anything is really standing behind you as you pick up your pen or poise your trembling fingers over your keyboard.”~Fireblossom

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.

  1. Sounds correct for today as well. Good job, Ilike your syllable count Cinquain form better than the word count. I haven’t written many but they can convey more than the simple Senryu which is a corrupted Haiku.
If you live in or near a large city like I do, the Houston, Texas, area-about eight million, Texas’ largest city, an hour of local news is mostly killings with a little politics and international news interspersed.

  2. what is very exasperating is to see a film clip and get entirely opposite interpretations depending whether it is a liberal or conservative media outlet. one thing they have in common, the old newsroom maxim, “if it bleeds, it leads”. oh yeah, don’t forget, “money makes the world go round, the world go round…”
