Her boundaries were hard to set
Life had been a series of crossings
People cutting through her space
She began to see everyone as a threat
~
He entered her world with such finesse
Sincerity and kindness were his gifts
Falling hard for him was just too easy
Soon he was to cause her great distress
~
This sweetness changed much too soon
Turning to intentional daggers of hate
Became unable to please him in any way
To her soul he too became immune
~
Opened her eyes one bright day
Realized that the power lay within
Arising to the needed changes
Strong boundaries she did lay

I really love that first stanza. It’s sets up quite a character for our leading lady and it’s interesting to see how she develops through the poem. By its end, she’s found again her strength.

we provide those tests for one another so to eventually strengthen us. we learn and thus grow closer to source, if we have a mind to. boundaries are so important. “good fences make good neighbors”.
