At CDHK this week, we were asked to write about Mid-Winter. Chevrefeuille asked us what our rituals or celebrations wre for this time of the season. Honestly, all I could think of is football. So, departing from my usual fare, I went with the humorous (at least to me) mourning as we wait for the super bowl. 🙂 Theirs are more mystical and special.

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.

  1. Ah this might heal the winter blues. I find it funny how we treat this time as mid-winter when it officially was winter only Dec 22nd…mid winter for me is middle of February when we have our winter carnivals.

  2. our society is so fickle, so jaded. all the pre-hoopla for the super bowl, then the super-bowl, then the post -hoopla until the next mind-numbing distraction comes along. presidential primaries? yay! I wonder what’s on American idol? (yawn)
