A Little Bit

I am not much in a mood for poetry this morning. That’s really a shame because I’m going to be behind with the prompts that I respond to but I’m in a place of contemplation regarding the State of the Union address from our President. Many of you know that I’m a Baha’i, so I will not be talking about partisan politics at all. They are divisive and set an atmosphere where extremes easily raise up and often flourish. Besides this, this is a time for uniting not separating. That’s not what I desire to express either. So please do not feel obligated to like, comment or even read. I just need to share.

I am 57 years old. I have seen this country, nay this world go through terrible things. As it has been said, perhaps overstated, “man’s inhumanity to man”. I have seen dogs, cops, and fire hoses attacking real life human beings, innocent or not, for no reason but the color of their skin. I have seen many strong, African American leaders shot down. People who inspired all mankind to dream of a day when there would be love as a primary motivation for our country’s existence. They were deliberately taken down! I have seen 2 presidents shot, one fatally because their ideas were not agreed with. I have seen a president’s dishonesty, nay criminality exposed to the whole world. This all before I reached my 20’s. It inspired in me from a very early age, a firm, strong belief in the basic human need to be connected and united with our fellows, regardless of differences. Which finally brings me to the essence of my point.

For me to hear the President of the United States of America talk about unconditional love being the best plan for our country was the most healing and profound experience I’ve ever had in relation to my country. For the first time in my life, and I’m not exaggerating, I felt proud to be a United States Citizen. For the first time, I was represented by my leaders. My heart was being spoken by the heart of the person who has power! He called us higher. He called us to dignity. He called us to the desire of my old heart, UNITY. In the Baha’i writings, Baha’u’llah says when referring to all of us, “Noble have I created thee…”. In my lifetime, those who represented me have not often acted with nobility and only the animalistic get noticed. This gave me such a strong sense of being heard; a fulfillment in terms of my heritage. I must say I wept, which for me is not all that unusual.

Truthfully, I am concerned for our country but that is in God’s capable hands. I will continue to vote based on the character of the person as difficult as that sometimes is and whoever gets into that office, I may not agree with them but I will not undermine. I have had almost 8 years of turning and hearing my leader say things I can get behind and if that does not continue, I will mourn deeply, but I’ll keep working in my small way to bring about the unity of humanity according to the mandates of my Faith. God bless you, Barack Obama and your family. My deep and very personal gratitude and profound respect will always be with you. As will my love.

❤ ❤ ❤

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.

  1. I missed the State of the Union address and now I am sorry that I did. I find politics to be divisive as well. I belong to no political party for that reason. While I will miss your beautiful poems today, I understand your need to contemplate this inspiring turn of events. I do hope that more world leaders embrace unconditional love. It can only make the world a better place! Thank you for sharing your insightful views and a bit of your history, which I had not known! I respect you all the more for your openness and courage. Peace my friend 😉

  4. Reblogged this on LoveTrips™ and commented:
    Good Afternoon Kings & Queens,

Because LoveTrips™ is primarily my own realm comprised of personal memoirs and pieces of Our, Frank & I’s, experiences and understandings of the nature of science and love, many of you are aware I consciously make the decisions not to reblog. However, “A Little Bit” is life to me. I pray this brings you much warmth in these cold days!

Greater is coming for those who love without boundaries–mark my words . . .

    i ‘normally’ only respond to
    links now.. on dVerse..
and folks who make it clear
    now.. i do not overwhelm
    them.. by commenting
    on my blog first..
    as yes..
    i realize i
    can be overwhelming
    as i am no ‘normal’
    human
    being
    at all..
    and almost
    from birth.. people
    let me feel that in
    no uncertain terms..
    and that is something
    i learned to overcome..
as there are two ways iN
    dealing with bullies.. one is
    vengeance and the other
    is Victory.. Victory is
    the h0NEy of liFe
    iN unification..
    the common core
    of the Baha’i faith
    that i have studied
    intensely.. like all other
    religions.. sadly there is
    usually.. always.. at least
    one glitch that precludes me
    from calling myself an actual
    part of the religion.. including
the Catholic one i attend every
    Sunday.. and those are concerning
basic human rights.. to Love whomever
one will Love.. as all Love at essence iS
    consensuAlly TRuLY ‘SamE Love’.. an
    excellent modern song.. now illustrating
what i am getting to here.. that suffices
the point clearly without many more
details here.. as a person born
by the God of Nature on the
    Autism Spectrum not able
to speak until age 4 with
    problems with verbal
    communication
    throughout most of my life..
i am outlier in the way i communicate
that comes directly from THAT challenge..
additionally.. i was born rather fragile looking
and at times.. confused for the other gender when
young.. yeah.. but sure.. no longer is that the
case.. as yes.. the strong survive.. and
that potential is in most all of our
    DNA if we accommodate
    the challenge.. but never the
less.. i know the pain of outcast
    all too well.. and yes..
    it is time for another
    Messenger of God..
    in Baha’i faith words..
    and if need be.. milLions
to set that pArt of God’s
    record straight.. as nah..
    God’s diversity is no straight
line.. it is infinite in paths and
    spectrums of humans.. both in
    gender.. sexual orientations..
    and all other differences of
    lifE that the savior of
    science has
    cleared up..
    for many outcasts
in Life.. as we move away
    from the patriarchal controls
of the past.. so heavy handed against
anyone reAlly then.. except for ‘white’ middle
age patriarchs with money.. tools of weapons..
and status.. to low brow the rest of humanity..
as it were and continues to be in many countries..
Change is now.. and WHO knows.. perhaps in someways
Obama is NOW one of those new messengers as he refuses
to let the herd of patriarchy mute his stance on all human
rights iN equality for all humans to love whom they WiLL
with Unconditional Love.. there are no ifs and or buts for
that my friend.. all are children of God.. all diversity
    that can be unification..
    if enough of us
    go the
    path
    of Unconditional
    Love.. but sadly.. some
    still fear the different
    among the Children
    of God..
    and yes..
    God and his
    ‘New Messengers’
    are taking care of that
    as WE SPEAK.. SMILES AGAIN..
    the Unconditional Love is the
    God thing
    through
    and through
    when FREE..
    i find your post highly
    inspiring.. but don’t ‘worry’

    1. Katie, thank you for sharing so profoundly with me. You may have a misperception of the laws of the Baha’i Faith about whom we love. It’s rather complicated but if you ever want to talk about it, let me know and I’ll give you my email. Your honest sharing has truly touched my heart. God bless you, dearheart!

      1. SMiLes again.. my friend.. out of all the religions.. the
Baha’i faith is one of the best i’ve studied
so far.. and i realize all the details
        entailed.. and i wasn’t suggesting
        the religion limits Love.. now..
        whereas Catholicism does..
        however.. science does
        now show that
        homosexuality
is a part of Healthy Human
        Nature and even more
        so among our closest
        primate cousins.. the
        Bonobo.. who rarely
        ever engages in harmful
        conflicts with each other..
        unlike the raping and pillaging
        chimpanzee.. that nihilists used
        to compare humans directly too..
as coming in this world with
        an evil.. nature.. Truth iS..
        humans are not
        the virus..
        culture is..
        in many still
        sad ways now..
        anyway.. never
        the less.. i have great
        respect for your religion
but on the other hand i have
        standards that no religion has
        met yet.. and
        perhaps
        that’s
        not too strange
        either.. sMiles..
        as we are truly
        all different in
        someway
        as well
        as
        sAMe..
        and i for one
        have learned to
        tolerate all the
        differences at hand…
That makes for a peaceful way..:)

      2. Truly, I agree. Thanks again for sharing your truth with me. I had a very similar background with bullies. It was terrible so I am not judgmental of others. ❤ Your comments always brighten my day 🙂

  6. As ever, Carol, you speak from the heart. I also prize unity, and have done so since childhood. It is a fine thing to see Barack Obama get the message about rising beyond politics. I hope he continues to rise above the political mire and show even his opponents that they have a responsibility to make this country better.

  7. as a deep sceptic about the political process and politicians in general, I have definite views. for me the old ways of doing business are collapsing around our ears. politicians are human beings like me, but our system is so dying, so cancerous, i’ll stop here. whenever a politician can echo the deepest sentiments held by the human heart, it can serve to elevate and remind us of our true spiritual nature, the highest good. godspeed, barack obama.
