there is a pipeline
it takes the innocent off
they spend their rich hues
~
there is a pipeline
it goes from schools to cellblocks
guilty without truth
~
it takes the innocent off
walks to the store or play guns
loss of all that’s pure
~
just for their color
skin of different hues a threat
see their souls. please

this is a powerful plea, Carol, for a heartfelt need that is bleeding out innocent lives in our world over such an insignificant thing as color.

the photo could be the possible inside of a prison, or the inside of a rundown tenement. and the system that sends these young folks to prison hopes we can somehow control crime. out of sight, out of mind. sad. very sad.

Thanks for sharing your response to the MLMM photo challenge Carol 🙂
I’ve been reading and re-reading it – the series of Haiku – and thinking on the multiple meanings and possibilities to the layers …. intriguing and fascinating choice of poetic form – the “series” seems to work as it “unravels” and slowly reveals itself …. haiku by haiku.
Interesting form of commentary and means of approach.
