My five children and I never arrive anywhere quietly. Last Tuesday was certainly no different from any other outing. My kids range in age from 2 years to sweet sixteen and many in between. They are my deepest joys and my most troubling concerns.

That morning we climbed into the Jeep and head out to pay some bills and get some groceries. I promised them that if they were good, we would stop at the park to feed the ducks. That was a treat that they dearly loved and enjoyed.

While they didn’t really behave well, they did try very earnestly to behave so we finished our duties and off we went to greet the quackers. There was a lot giggling and screeches of delight because the mama duck had 21 ducklings following her and making darling little peeping sounds. The comparisons were obvious even to the children. They got out their bread crumbs and Marcia screamed out, “Mommy! I want 16 more brothers and sisters so we can be just like the ducks!”.

Suddenly, I needed to sit down.

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.
