Come Back?

So many blessings this life has offered

Faith, family and the love of children

Many opportunities to me were proffered

Delight of Mother Earth and Her vision

To return here, though, I can not abide

Travails and heartache have been so deep

Take me out for good on that rolling tide

Release me finally and may there I keep

Must not awaken after my death returned

To travel through this valley of pain again

Free me from this prison of pain so churned

Take me home to the paradise of heaven

Where I may rest at last

Poetics : Coming back

At the Poetics Pub, this time, Abhra asks us to explore the idea of returning to this plane of existence. Asking us what form we would choose. Like a bird or an element. For me, I would never want to come back here again so I went with that. I hope that is okay. Thank you, Abhra. Please go on over there and read the wonderful poets and their many works.

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.

  1. This is powerful and I feel so real. We always say rest in peace, and I feel sure we should but it is all an unknown. but there is hope and faith. It is interesting the way this prompt has generated so much thought and has unearthed our pasts and futures!
