In my wildest prayers, I dance
Nearing my Lord in movement
Gives my soul a sublime trance
Sublime inner harmonic alignment
Entice my weary spirit to advance
Every part offering sincere atonement

Morgan’s prompt was to write about the meditation of movement. I think of the whirling dervishes and the many different Faith’s that encourage the posture of prayer thereby linking our bodies, minds and souls in praise and supplication.

Thank you. Movement can be the vehicle to bring those three levels together too. Hope your weekend has been terrific.

I do think there are examples of prayerful dancing in the OT. King David dancing in front of the Ark of the Covenant, as an example. I really think there can be prayer in movement. Very nicely penned.

Love that first line because “wildest prayers” is an unexpected juxtaposition of words and images and then to follow that up with “I dance” further surprises the reader…..it’s glorious 🙂

Thank you, CC! I think sometimes prayer is limited by preconceptions.

Beautifully written. It particularly resonates as I am fond of the concept of God as ‘Lord of the Dance’.
