Her Cove~Flash Fiction

There was a natural horseshoe-shaped cove carved out of the jagged rocks. The water gently lapped against them quieted by the formation. One summer she found a very large piece of driftwood that had landed across the inlet affording her a comfy seat upon which to contemplate. As she sat watching the string of seals making their annual trip down the coast to for warmer waters, she felt the tension and stress leave her. This was her refuge. Many spots in the natural world were to her, sacred space where she could find herself again and center her spirit

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.

  1. something about the shoreline, a really curious mix of earth(sand), air (sea breeze), water (the ocean, especially by the shore) and fire (the warmth of the sun. and then the cherry on top, the quintessence, our spirit, our ability to perceive and feel and wonder about the creation and then the creator of all this.

  2. Your flash expresses the link between our peace and nature. Amazing how focused and busy we can get with the little details of every day life, yet how we slow down when we look at the bigger natural world around us. Great take on the prompt!
