Contemplating the way the tides exposed the sandbar made her feel connected to her own situation. That is how she felt. Exposed and vulnerable. The crashing waves of their relationship had pounded her down to this state to which this footbridge now stood witness. The tranquility of the moment was lost in the torrent of her thoughts.

“I don’t feel connected to you anymore.” is how he began his announcement, “You and I are going in different directions now.”, he continued blithely.

Stunned, she turned toward the fully lit kitchen as her heart exploded. Nothing he was saying made any sense. Sorting through the rampage of confusion, waves of nausea flooded her stomach. She did not understand at all. Picnics, long walks with in-depth talks, these were the characteristics of their relationship. Not this disconnection that he described. There had to be something else going on.

The sea’s waves started to become larger as if carrying a message to her. One of replenishment. Was it time to let it all go? Move on with her life? Life was full. University, goals, family and, of course, nature filled her days. She was just fine without him.

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.
