Release me from this backyard
It is a suburban prison house
I want to go climb that mountain
~
Let me run until my lungs explode
Free to reach the top with no barriers
I want to see what I will see up there
~
I will dismantle this fence for sure
Just you watch me, one paw at a time
Ruff, ruff, ahhhwoooo

Georgia is asking us to explore the poetry tool of the tercet. I find myself in a playful mood these last few days so this is what I came up with. Thank you, Georgia!

I love it! My dog enjoyed it, too…he said ‘Ruff, ruff’, and panted a little 🙂

This is great! I was trying to figure out how to attack this form. I love what you did with it. It’s so engaging and your poem flows easily between stanzas. The description of the form left me wondering if such fluidity was possible but you have proven it so!

You’d think it’d be easy. Georgia suggested a rhyming pattern that I didn’t try but hope to in the future! Thank you.

You’re welcome 🙂 I still haven’t come up with anything for this one. You’re right that it should be easy. I am so used to counting syllables that I’m having a hard time breaking out of that.

I understand that. After I’ve struggled with a syllable count, I find that I do it even when I don’t have to.

me too! I need the syllable count or it doesn’t sound like I’m writing poetry. It just becomes prose.
