Butterfly and flower

It is March. That means Spring is almost here. I search the land seeking signs of her arrival. I need the temerity to question the decisions made in the cold of the Winter that may no longer serve me. No longer do I have the luxury of leaning into the old ways. This I know for sure. Let me jettison the suitcases from the past and take full advantage of nature’s junction. Let me feel the kinesthesia of movement as I flee the staleness of past troubles. Frequently, the timing eludes me but eventually I know when to let it go. Strange how that is triggered by the beauty of the blooming and budding that I see. Passing the darker months, famished for color and warmth, I cling to hope.

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.

  1. temerity likely isn’t the word to describe this question, but… if the decisions of winter no longer serve you….are you saying the typical wintery resolution of hey lets shed a few pounds just went right out the window with the ice cream of a fresh spring day? again, i doubt teremerity is the word but, 😀 may i have a :{ :{

  2. Delightful reflection……You and I, both, know there are plenty ‘signs’ of Spring…..Waiting for us to ‘be taken’ by all that makes for Spring….Not least ‘Colour’…. 😉 Hugs!

  4. Your haibun resonates with me even though we are doing the slow slide to autumn over here. I read an astrological report that said the theme for March is letting go of everything thatno longer serves you
