His blood tinged petals

the flower of His sufferings

trees of God’s love

Carpe Diem Special April

The goal of the CD-Specials is to create / write a haiku (tanka or other Japanese poetry form) inspired on the given haiku trying to catch the spirit of the haiku poet/ess. So here it goes:

bare branches
cherry tree starts to bloom –
awaiting cherries

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.

  1. Kirsch, obviously as kirsch wasser not perhaps something interesting for you comes to my mind. not with longing, It is one of the few things I thought sounded delightful and still does but is wretched to me…brewed cherry…yuck….however, cherry, related to almonds physiologically but also in taste compounent makeup – thus most people’s idea of the bestest ever cherry coke is more in reality an almond coke 😀 – this brings up my display versus my actual chosen for here name starmanjones is a book by Robert Heinlein and my initials backwards if you count words for acronymns but my chosen name starting here was almond coffeed- now I like lemon poppyseed, don’t get me wrong mmm, but nothing ever is as fabulous as almond poppyseed and I at that point found a neareast type market and almond syrup for not a cake as hoped but coffee. hence I was…almond coffeed. not that almonded cokes are bad mind you- but previous to this I found mai tais tastey and was told of almond syrup but found only crème de noyeau…almond cream liqueur.. which makes magic for the consumers of said for “cherry diet cokes” hence I learned that almond cherry connection first 😉 only with one other, jasmine and concord grape being containers of methyl anthranilate…the main grape of artificial grape soda…concord purple grape taste.

      1. I don’t find it so. balance is key. a fresh orange might be hundreds of micro bursts of instantly evaporating oils long gone before you bite into the actual flesh through the rind of an orange. each tell you something and also can not be put into commercial offerings as well

  2. Beautiful dogwood blossoms!! If you split the cottonwood tree, it has a 5 pointed indentation symbolizing humanity. Nature is beautiful AND mystical. Glad you’re feeling better. Hugs!!
