I am hanging on by a thread
My mind filled with loathing and dread
My toes don’t even touch the ground
Why am I still hanging around?
~
Life has plowed into me lately
A hand would assist me greatly
I can not hear even one sound
Why am I still hanging around?
~
Actually, I am quite at ease
I’m feeling that warm Summer breeze
Do we need our feet on the ground?
Why am I still hanging around?

footprints upon the mound.. are the few traces til wind’s change sweeps the signs from being found. memories fleeting but legendd forever – or at least as we pass the drinks around.

Lovely, Carol! Delightful ‘lilt’ about it! 🙂 Hugs! ❤
P.S. BTW: Is something missing in the penultimate line?
'Do we need our feet the ground?' 😉

from the angle of the guy in the picture it’s all a matter of perspective in regard to the angle of his shadow. How often I’ve wondered why am I still hanging around. To quote Yogi Berra, “It ain’t over till it’s over”. Nice rhythmic pattern verse. Sounds like change is in the wind. Hugs.

Splendid – a truly well-written Kyrielle … here all was warm and summery, until a wretched wind set in and made me ask as well, “Why am I still hanging around?”
