Had I given it enough of a chance? Had I let go too quickly? Doubts. They always accompany change for me. So often, I make a change too late and end up suffering needlessly. Often, I make decisions too soon in my own effort to counteract my over done loyalty. The truth is, change is difficult for me. That day as I sat looking at the already yellowing leaves of Tennessee, I thought about the relationship between me and this early Fall. Without my tears watering the choices life asks of me, the beauty can not surface. The richer the rain, the more beautiful the foliage.

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.

  1. indecision and decision. two sides of the same coin. with fall now coming, we can start planting flowers and plants in the inside of our homes. the song from the group rush says, “if you choose, not to decide, you still have made a choice”.

This piece spoke to me.. So many times do we doubt our decisions, often fearing change, When change is all part of how we grow.. Just like those seasons..
