“The world of humanity is possessed of two wings: the male and the female. So long as these two wings are not equivalent in strength, the bird will not fly. Until womankind reaches the same degree as man, until she enjoys the same arena of activity, extraordinary attainment for humanity will not be realized; humanity cannot wing its way to heights of real attainment. When the two wings . . . become equivalent in strength, enjoying the same prerogatives, the flight of man will be exceedingly lofty and extraordinary.”~’Abdul-Baha
I am an eagle that longs to soar.
To lift myself up from the mire and clay
I long to fly high, for this I pray.
I am a hawk seeking true wisdom
To arise and see the truth of our common state.
I long to truly see our fate
I am a condor seeking to eliminate
To clean and rid the world of toxic masculinity
I long to make way for our unity.
I am the Hornbill that longs to build.
To work day and night to construct our torn nest
I long to create space so that we may rest
I am woman seeking to assist.
To bring about conditions that foster peace
I long to be all that I am that war may cease
I am humanity that longs to be free
To see woman and man working together in all things.
I long for the function of both of my wings.
