Eleanor

  1. Your name was clear from our beginning
  2. Eleanor, not mom you said, our start a little shaky
  3. Care you did though, as we made mis-stakes a plenty
  4. Advising us of responsibility in our life just starting
  5. Every request met with assurances of you were willing
  6. At the same time cautioning of our plans being flaky
  7. The packages you sent filled with treasures in our poverty
  8. Always grateful; did you know our love for you, self interesting
  9. Grand child’s arrival came so suddenly, no chance for sharing
  10. The precious articles of knitted dreams sent almost daily
  11. Did you know how happy you made us with those pieces of lovely?
  12. How cute our child looked in the blues, yellows, greens from your hands, caring
  13. Many hours you spent buying teddy bears, dogs, monkeys his crib lining
  14. I know that you love him and us. I mean this sincerely.
  15. Goodbye, dear one. It’s time to travel on with angels lightly
  16. Go forth, fear not loved one, the Lord’s trumpets blaring.
  17. I love you.

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.
