We little children

Watched as you

Moved the world

Revealing the hidden

You were the fuel

Igniting my dreams

A lifetime dedication

Breaking unfair rule

To you it is that I owe

For this just passion

Feeling connection

Even with my “foes”

How do I express

My gratitude for

The sacrifices of all

With great tenderness

Your dream inspired

So many to unite

In this little girl

Her heart you fired

We need you and your kind, Dr. Martin Luther King.

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.

  1. I find it sad all of our leaders are not as dedicated to the people as Dr. King was. Think of how great the World would be if that were the case …. no wars and equality across the board would probably prevail. And if a frog had wings ….

Yours is a truly lovely tribute to a decent man, and a true leader, Carol.
