My eyes stare into the depths
Searching for the signs of life
So far beyond the title of wife
Fishing for the family’s fare
~
My dress is wet and soiled
My hair always disheveled
Children are fed, not spoiled
May not grow up bejeweled
~
I call out to the fish to surface
Know full well my daily purpose
What we have surely does suffice
Their growth is worth the price

Written for Magpie Tales who provided the interesting picture. I let loose with the rhyme scheme. Not according to rules but it just seemed to fit.

Thank you, Melinda. How is your week?

You’re welcome 🙂 it’s stressful. Some updates to our hardware broke parts of the websites I manage. Plus today one of the projects I have been working on for months went live. So it was crazy. I am hoping for a quieter day tomorrow. I have so much work to do and I’m tired of spending 8 hours a day in crisis mode…how is your week going? I hope it’s been wonderful.

It has been a little better than last week. Any end in sight for the stress?

No and that bothers me. I think it’s time for a change but where to go from I don’t know. I’m glad your week is better than mine. February is a hard month.

I am hanging in as best I can. taking lots of walks and listening to a good books while I work. It helps.

Self-care is so important when dealing with stress. I usually forget to do it but when I do it helps!

I’m beginning to realize that if i don’t take care of myself no one else will. So that is moving to the top of my to do list!

no photo. went to website and saw a woman holding a harpoon I guess. anyway, a strong woman in a stronger time.

You’ve given the woman direction and purpose. The contrast of her feminine wile with the harshness of the harpoon (and it’s purpose) comes through very well. A stirring piece, Carol.
