Your darkness seeps into everything
Crawls into my consciousness and stings
Deflates my bright and shiny red balloon
I fall into the mold you’ve set too soon
Each day the sun shines in its glory
I try to write a fresh, new story
But like a cloud spilling out salty tears
That light is occluded by your fears
Like the sun, I continue to rise
Bursting through the hatred and the lies
Even when the darkness shrouds my own space
I will shine and of your clouds leave no trace

Oh my, this is truly lovely, Carol!! keep shining like a red balloon, your joy is contagious; detour, avoid, avert, all negativity and pray they finally see the light of your smile.

The wonderful thing about poetry, it allows the darkness to expire to let the beauty glow.

On my other blog I may vent uncensored but find it so therapeutic after long shifts listening to pain and suffering.

I love the philosophy in this poem: to continue to shine and not let others’ clouds dim your light. Very beautiful and inspiring. Nice to see you linking, Carol!!

It hurts so much when people burst the shiny red balloon we carry inside..i suppose the only way to shine is on our own terms – perhaps it is easier to sustain? 🎈

Yes. I hate not being seen! Especially after the special effort for someone who could have been special to me.
