Dear Carol,

Please learn to love yourself! When people try to take away your power, your grace, your style, look them in the eyes and calmly say no! Then you must walk away from them. Not with rancor and resentment but with the understanding that you are worth the release of their negativity. Let me tell you, dear one, if you don’t do this you will spend the rest of your life trying to be all that those you love want you to be. You will be lost to yourself. When you love and care for the you that God created, you will be able to pursue all those dreams that you have for teaching children and writing poetry. Maybe even a book! All this can be done in your prime instead of struggling and scraping to break free into the later part of your life to learn your true worth. You have value. You have love all within you right now. Please, look inside and let the outside see you regardless of their reactions.  Let yourself fly like those hawks you so dearly love; let yourself flow like your sister, the sea!

I have been writing all my life but for the most part, it has been a secret. My parents did not believe writing was a good way to earn money so I hid my poems. Then one day, I wanted to comment on an essay that a friend had written and found myself with a blog. That quiet whisper inside said, "You can write your poetry and no one will ever know.". I knew nothing of followers and the like at that time. So, here I am trying to learn my craft and enjoying every moment of it. My personal details are, I'm 57, married for 39 years, have one grown son who is God's gift to us and last but not least at all, I'm a Baha'i which basically means that I love all humanity.
