The tempest has passed
Many clouds are dispersing
A rainbow appears at last
Sunshine breaks through
~
Robins chant in unison
Peace’s gentle hush settles
After the rage and confusion
Each voice is raised to heaven
~
Flowers of the field sway
Hearing their own music
Each in their own way
Symphony of true unity
~
Now that the tempest has passed

Bjorn Rudberg over at Poetics: War for Peace said:
“For poetics today I thought we would take up the challenge from the Pubtalk by Grace a few weeks ago. I remember that I said that peace is hard to write about. It is very much like writing about love. I often find that peace goes back to platitudes and trite. Everyone knows that peace is better than war, just like love is better than hate. But to really say such obvious things you have to challenge yourself, just like peace and love is hard work you have to stretch yourself….Use contrasts, use metaphors, use your senses smells, play on idioms. Use any form or any trick you like but make us long for peace not just hate war. Make me love peace, not just peacefulness. What’s the taste of peace, the smell, the color? Is peace of night or something brought by day? Remember contrasts, write in chiaroscuro, show attractiveness in light.”~Bjorn Rudberg
Looking forward to seeing you there!

How mighty the metaphor in your hands. I come away from it a bit hopeful–that there might be a few like you out here chin deep in the carnage.

we are all too familiar with the horrors of war. when true peace comes, it will come on the inside of each of us and on the outside to the whole world. this is what humanity wants, this is what humanity will have. a promise made, a promise kept.

To be calm in a tempest is a God-given bounty, sweeter than any other.

What a lovely way to speak of peace – no arguing cynical rants, no horror – just a peace poem about peace and the hope for it. There are a few of us robins out there singing for all we are worth.
