Laura and Lily
Laughing like larks
Lying in the grass
Lauding secrets
A loving link betwixt them
Like lightening
Linking hands
They know
They know
If only for a moment
Life’s light, love and longing
Laura and Lily are ladies

The prompt by Karin was to write about the real using the artifice of our craft. She provided several of her pictures from the exhibit of Picasso’s works.

Lovely, Carol–I love that feeling of friends/sisters/compatriots–agh, and maybe they’ll not have to be waiting or can change the mode of that–but certainly young girls often feel that way–you have caught that so well. Thanks much for participating in the prompt! k.

I agree! It’s a lovely poem, whether they are sisters or friends makes no difference. Though it offers a sad commentary on us ladies–we’re always waiting for something aren’t we?

LOVE your imagination, Carol! Keep on, my friend!! I can just imagine you with pencil (pen) in hand writing frantically as the thoughts pour forth, then stopping, scratching out as better words come …. Just wonderful!!! ❤

I liked reading this, Carol. Maybe a little latent homosexuality here? I had a close buddy buddy thing like your Lily and Laura. He went into the Army, I moved away, and we never saw or even heard from again. Way back when. But I know too, that girls have tighter bonding with friends than guys do. I have two daughters and three sons. The twin boys have a very tight bond still, enough so that one wife has a little jealacy.

Perhaps but it’s not something I’ve ever encountered in myself. I think it was that bond that little girls can have. I’m so glad you enjoyed it and thanks for commenting, 🙂
